Ens ha deixat avui, dimecres 5 d´agost, CARLES SALMERÓN I BOSCH (Barcelona, 1956)
Historiador i escriptor especialitzat en història del Transport, especialment dels Ferrocarrils, funiculars i tramvies arreu d´Europa.
Fundador del Museu del Ferrocarril La Pobla-Castellar (Castellar d´en Hug)
Autor, editor amb gairebé quaranta llibres publicats, amb acurada qualitat científica i tècnica.
La Enciclopèdia dels Transports d´Europa. i la col.lecció Els Trens de Catalunya, amb 21 volums, conformen tant sols una part de la seva incansable tasca.
A Mallorca, recordem especialment la seva aportació als Congressos organitzats en ocasió del projecte de recuperació dels tramvies de Palma i del Tren de Llevant (línia Manacor-Artà) i la seva publicació “Els Tram-Tren d´Europa” una obra dedicada a aquest sistema capdavanter, eix fonamental la recuperació de la xarxa ferroviària Mallorquina, amb suport del Govern Balear, Tram Badia i els Serveis Ferroviaris de Mallorca.
El patrimoni de la Fundació FerrocaIB compta amb l´automotor WUMAG 510 gràcies a la seva iniciativa de preservació ferroviària a mitjans dels anys ´80.
Molt hem d´agrair al nostre amic, lluitador-acadèmic-editor, defensor de la llengua catalana, així com cal: amb totes i cadascuna de les seves publicacions.

Cuatro jóvenes de Estel de Llevant, realizarán prácticas formativas gracias al a la Fundació FERROCAIB, Ajuntament de Sant Llorenç des Cardassar por mediación del programa “Junts Ho Podem Fer- Juntos Somos Capaces”, que promueve FUNDACIÓN MAPFRE.
La Fundació FERROCAIB, el Ajuntament de Sant Llorenç des Cardassar y Estel de Llevant, han firmado un acuerdo de colaboración para participar en el programa de inserción socio-laboral de jóvenes con discapacidad intelectual y trastorno mental “Junts Ho Podem Fer-Juntos Somos Capaces”, que promueve FUNDACIÓN MAPFRE desde 2010.
Gracias a este acuerdo, cuatro jóvenes con trastorno mental realizarán prácticas formativas en el depósito de material histórico de la Fundació FERROCAIB, situado en Son Carrió, lo que permitirá adquirir habilidades y experiencia en las tareas de digitalización y organización de archivos de patrimonio histórico.
En la presentación de este convenio han participado, entre otros,Mateu Puigròs, Alcalde Sant Llorenç des Cardassar, Benet Campins, Director de la oficina de MAPFRE en Manacor, Guillem Febrer, Presidente de Fundació FERROCAIB y María Nicolau Riera, Presidenta Estel de Llevant.
El Ayuntamiento de Sant Llorenç y la Fundació FERROCAIB colaboran habitualmente en programas de mantenimiento y promoción del patrimonio ferroviario histórico. Es del interés de ambas instituciones promocionar la inserción de personas con discapacidad por trastorno mental grave, colectivo en riesgo de exclusión social, en sus actividades habituales.
Estel de Llevant, lleva a cabo diferentes programas laborales, formativos, culturales, lúdicos y sociales. para conseguir la autonomía laboral y personal de sus usuarios.
El Sr. Olivier Foiche, secretario del “Groupe d’Etude pour les chemins de fer de Provence” visitó recientemente la Fundación FERROCAIB y la locomotora Batignolles, En la fotografía, con algunos miembros de Ferrocaib, El Sr. Foiche es un destacado miembro del GECP, entidad que gestiona el ferrocarril histórico “Train de Pigna” el cual circula en la línea de vía estrecha, entre Nice en Digne, en la Provenza francesa.
Fundación FERROCAIB y GECP gozan de una estrecha relación y colaboran en el intercambio de información y conocimientos sobre la tracción a vapor. Ambas instituciones cuentan con una locomotora tipo “mallet” provenientes de las líneas de vía estrecha del Douro portugués. Ferrocaib dispone de la CP E 215 (véase el apartado de patrimonio de esta web) y el GECP, la CP E 211.
El tren de Pignes circula habitualmente entre las localidades de Puget Theniers y Annot, entre bellos paisajes provenzales. La temporada de explotación se inicia en mayo y se alarga hasta el mes de octubre. Desde la Fundación FERROCAIB recomendamos una visita a este magnífico ferrocarril. A new way to experience Mallorca with SFM trains
Fundació FERROCAIB has developed together with the company “IB-disseny” a new system to discover the territory served by the lines of Serveis Ferroviaris de Mallorca (SFM). Through the website you can download a total of 17 urban and suburban routes which start at different railway stations of the lines Palma – Manacor and Enllaç – Sa Pobla. This service, available in Catalan, Spanish and English, will be a useful tool to promote the towns and villages of Majorca and encourage a responsible tourism.
You can get cultural and geographic information about more than 60 points of interest of these routes.
These routes can be followed through smarts phones with a new technology called “augmented reality”. This system will facilitate the visits
The Foundation has restored a railway platform of the old Majorcan Railways Co. The vehicle was built in Beasain in the 20s. It needed a profound intervention for recovering the structure and replacing all the wooden elements. The axes have been renovated and adapted to the metric gauge. The platform will serve as aservic vehicle for SFM.
The FERROCAIB Foundation, with the aid of the technical services of the SFM workshop, has finishing the restoration of the Batignolles loco: the electrical and air system and the wheel system. At the end the technical staff will test all this systems.
The locomotive was built by CAF (Beasain) under license of Batignolles-Chatillon 1959.
Later it served in the Aragonese line-Gallur Sádaba and in the depot of FEVE in La Casilla (Bilbao). In 1981 it was transported to Mallorca to renew the Palma-Inca line.
This coach was built by “Wumag und Maschinenbau” in 1920 (Germany). Some of them were delivered to Portugal by Germany under the program for war reparations in order to compensate the damage during the First World War. This rolling stock never ran in Portugal, because the line was never built. In 1942 the Company of Trams and Railways of Valencia (CTFV) bought it in the 40s. In 1981 FEVE transported it to Mallorca and it was transformed in a works wagon.
Recently Foundation FERROCAIB has visited the headquarters of the ATM-Milano to sign a cooperation protocol with the public company of Milano. The ancient Milanese trams use the same electrical equipment as Wumag 510 railcar. Therefore ATM Milano has sold to FERROCAIB some elements necessary for restore its electrical system and also some important documentation.
This railcar was built by “Wumag und Maschinenbau” in 1920 (Germany). This rolling stock never ran in Portugal, because the line was never built. In 1942 the Company of Trams and Railways of Valencia (CTFV) bought it in the 40s. Then It was transferred to the Museum of Castellar de n’Hug (Catalunya). FERROCAIB acquired to “Ferrocarriles de la Generalitat de Catalunya” few years ago and nowadays is under restoration.
