The station of Santa Maria had a turntable for locomotives. It allowed to change the travel direction of the locomotives that came and went through the line. Beside the turntable, there was also a water supply tower. On the platform was a standpipe that allowed carrying water from the general track. In this station started the branch line to Felanitx. The branch, which opened in 1897, linked the villages of Santa Eugenia, Algaida, Montuïri, Porreres and finally Felanitx. Before reaching Felanitx, the railroad stopped in the quarries, in a small station that served important quantities of sandstone. In 1967 the line was closed and dismantled.
