Manacor Station

The passenger building of Manacor Station is very different compared to the rest railway stations of Mallorca. It is divided into three sections, the central one with two floors, and the lateral ones with one floor. The central body is covered by a roof with four slopes. It is design is very simple. The access doors to the central body are closed by arches, very unusual in this type of buildings. The two side bodies have a roof with two slopes. It was renewed in 2003 because of the reopening of the Manacor railway service. As head of the line service, in the station were two additional buildings for keeping cars and locomotives. For traction service, it was also installed a turntable and two water supply towers. One of them served for those machines that ended its journey in Manacor, and was located between the two garages. The other consisted of a small deposit on a metal easel place near the main track. In Manacor Station used to begin the branch line of Artà, connecting the towns of Sant Llorenç, Son Carrió, Son Servera and Artà. This line was opened in 1921 and closed in 1977.
